If you’re looking for a way to improve the appearance of your skin without undergoing painful surgery or laser treatments, then a PRP non-surgical facelift may be the right choice for you. As we age, our skin begins to lose its healthy, radiant appearance. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a substance that is created from your own blood and then injected into your face to stimulate healing and regeneration. It contains all the growth factors, proteins, and healing substances necessary to help skin look and feel more youthful.
What PRP treats
A PRP facelift helps skin look younger, healthier, and more radiant. At Ringpfeil Dermatology, we perform this treatment to:
- Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Restore skin volume
- Minimize sagging skin on the face and neck
- Improve texture of skin
- Minimize uneven pigmentation and smooth out the complexion

How it works
Platelet rich plasma therapy has a long history of use in medicine. Since the 1970s, doctors have used it to encourage wound healing, improve the outcome of skin grafts, and treat arthritis and sports injuries. PRP helps promote healing due to the high amount of growth factors it contains. These growth factors encourage tissue regeneration and shorten healing times.

A PRP facelift typically takes about 90 minutes to perform. The first step in the process is to draw some of the patient’s blood and then process it in a centrifuge to form plasma with a high concentration of platelets. While this is happening, a numbing cream is applied to the patient’s face. Once the PRP is ready, Dr. Ringpfeil injects it into pre-determined areas of your face using a very fine needle. If patients have also requested dermal fillers or Botox, these will be injected first, followed by PRP.
Recovery
There is no downtime after a PRP facelift, so patients are able to resume normal activities immediately. You may experience some minor skin irritation, swelling, and/or bruising afterwards, but this tends to be minimal. PRP uses your own blood, so there is no risk of allergic reaction with this treatment.
Results
PRP works by stimulating the skin’s natural regenerative processes, so results are seen gradually over time. After about 3 weeks, initial improvements in skin tone and texture can be seen, with the full effect usually seen around 3 months. The results can last for up to 2 years as long as you properly care for your skin and avoid sun exposure or wear sunscreen.
In some cases, multiple PRP treatment sessions are required to achieve optimal results. These are spaced 3 – 4 months part.
Candidates
Anyone who wants to see an overall improvement in skin health may be a candidate for a nonsurgical PRP facelift. This treatment works best on individuals with mild to moderate signs of aging. It may not produce the desired result in people with advanced skin aging.
